The Composite Materials Laboratory in Syracuse University's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has equipment for the fabrication, mechanical testing and inspection of a variety of materials. MECHANICAL TESTING EQUIPMENT

  • 10 KIP MTS servohydraulic mechanical testing machine with digital controllers.
  • 50 KIP MTS servohydraulic mechanical testing machine with digital controllers.

NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING AND IMAGING EQUIPMENT

  • Olympus ultrasonic inspection testing immersion system with high speed computer data acquisition and custom imaging software.
  • LEICA 3D measuring microscope with Infinity 5-3C color camera.
  • FLIR One Pro thermal camera.

MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT

  • 300 psi, 800°F, computer controlled autoclave.
  • Two ELEGOO Mars 3 Pro stereolithography 3D Printers.
  • MTI GSL 1100X-NT110 Multi-Position Tube Furnace 1100 C degrees.
  • MSE Pro Lab Scale 15 ton manual hydraulic pellet press with safety shield + Pellet and die set (20 mm diameter).
  • Across Internation AT19 1.9 Cu Ft vacuum oven (UL/CSA - 110 V).
  • Another oven (small one): Across Internation AT19 0.9 Cu Ft vacuum oven (UL/CSA - 110 V).

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

  • Omnicure S2000 Spot UV curing system.
  • 20, 200, 1000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000 and 165,000 lb. load cells.
  • An in-house built weight drop tower for low velocity mechanical impact tests (non-instrumented).
